Well apologies for the absence. Since early December it’s been a series of unfortunate events, each one part of a comedic pile-on of s**t. This included having my camera stolen, which was terrible but also inspired me to pick up my film camera again—a silver lining.
When I was explaining to my therapist that I’m having trouble feeling any sense of joy in the monotony of the day to day lately, as the chaos has faded, she prompted me to find something beautiful every hour. It felt contrived initially but I must say this exercise has been transformative. In this country, as of late, it sure is hard not to hyper-fixate on the evil and ugly. But there is a deep sense of grounding in the realization that despite this there is beauty always, if sneakily, occurring. I can’t recommend this practice enough.
Here are a few of those moments.
